The New Zealand and Australian governments both placed bans on foreign travellers and started to move towards containment of the Chinese virus. Indoor and outdoor gatherings were greatly restricted in both nations.

Many businesses started to feel the pinch of reduced customers, but while Australia started to cut some red tape, in New Zealand there was only talk of stimulus and increased welfare payments.

Schools were still open and panic buying was taking place, with some essential goods out of stock.

The economic impacts of the global pandemic are starting to take shape, and a recession looks likely as many businesses will be unable to function.

All large public events were cancelled in New Zealand, which included the Pasifika Festival and all March 15th commemorations.

The NZ Police continued their policy of harassing firearms owners, as one of the Right Minds moderators received a visit from the police and was asked questions about his political and religious views.

Australia is in the lead with the number of coronavirus cases, but New Zealand's response was starting to be much more restrictive.
